Thinking that having to do some assembly it might be a bit flimsy. My wife and I took it on a 1700 mile road trip with all types of road surfaces and took quite a beating. The rack held up GREAT and was still sturdy when we returned home. We definitely got a bang for our buck. Only recommend that if you use with 1 1/4" receiver adapter, mount trailer light or more reflective tape. It sticks out quite a bit. The only complaint I have is that I ordered a new unit but it look like some else had already open the carton, the plastic parts bags holding the parts such as flat washers, lock washers and 3/8-16 Cge bolts with some missing, plus the packing was not very good, dents and paint scrathed off. Also, something to take gas containers to the gas station to fill up - again, not wanting to put it inside of my vehicle.I found the Curt line of carriers. I have bought other stuff of theirs before. Usually good products. I looked at the foldup version. Even though it was the same price, I did not need the fold up capability, or the extra weight that came with it. Looks like it might have a little play in it due to the folding capabaility; I wanted something solid. So I bought this one - the fixed shank version. Nicely engineered. Easy to put together.
